Couture Comic Jonathan Slocumb brings class back to the stage

VDJ Do It All – BIO

Famous for its seductive casinos, brilliantly lit-up skyline and engaging nightlife, the city of Las Vegas is a haven for good times, good food and guilty pleasures. Supplying Sin City with its club-shaking soundtrack for eight years steady is the incredible DJ Do It All.

With a light show consisting of live music video mixing, break dancers defying gravity and DO IT ALL performing magic tricks on the turntables, he blazes jam-packed clubs, concerts and celebrity pool parties throughout the city. He has even acquired a hypnotic fan base in every state and nine foreign countries.

“You don’t see too many DJs that are break dancing or hanging upside down while they’re DJing,” he says. “You might see me cut a record, jump off the stage and dance with someone. Then, go back on stage and cut another record. I put on a show. I am not just a DJ; I am actually an entertainer.”

Staking his claim in Las Vegas back in 2001, DO IT ALL relocated to the desert from Portland, Oregon. A DJ since he “could reach my hands over the turntables and not see the records,” DO IT ALL inherited a love for hip-hop from his older brother, who was also a DJ and break dancer. Although he was 10 years younger than his big brother, DO IT ALL was fully engulfed in the culture.

“He was 15; I was five. I was trying to be like my older brother. He had turntables, the old Roland drum machine,” he says. “I was in hip-hop competitions really young. I would be the little toddler dancing in the auditoriums and the clubs with my older brother.”

When his brother turned 17, though, he enlisted in the Air Force. So in no time, the youngster had picked up the trade and started DJing parties in middle school. “I didn’t even have turntables. I was doing it the ghetto way,” he remembers. “I was mixing cassettes with CDs. People loved it so I decided to get into it more.”

As the years progressed, he stuck to his craft, implemented dance into his show and quickly became the most well-known DJ in Portland- spinning at the hottest downtown nightspots, pool parties and exclusive mansion parties. Although he controlled the city’s nightlife, he soon outgrew the boundaries of Bridgetown and headed to Las Vegas.

“Where I was trying to go was too big for Portland. If I wanted to succeed and go further, I had to get out of there,” DO IT ALL admits. “I had to squeeze my way in because there are only a couple of DJs in the club. I didn’t do a demo. My demo was my performance. I play live for 45 minutes. It’s not something that you hear. You have to see it.”

His first Vegas gig was at Venus located inside the Venecian Casino on Las Vegas Boulevard. Because he kept the club on its feet at Venus, promoters from other clubs would call and ask for guest performances at their clubs. And before he knew it, he was bringing in crowds of thousands to clubs all across the Las Vegas Strip. One day, he got a call and was asked to be a tour DJ for R&B singer Donnell Jones.

“I thought about it for a couple of days,” says Doitall. “When I called back and said yes, they said ‘you are leaving for Amsterdam in three days.’”

While on tour traveling abroad and from state to state, DO IT ALL hosted his own after parties. Fans just couldn’t get enough of him. “Wherever we went,” he says, “I built my own fan base.”

To reach all of his fans, he recently launched a live interactive video show online at insidebiasworld.tv and djdoitall.net. With a catalog of more than 6,000 videos in his library, DO IT ALL keeps viewers captivated as he mixes videos live. Visitors can also send instant messages to the show and are answered live.

“It’s never been done like this by any other DJ, and it’s all original,” says Doitall. “I have so much music and versatility I can play a bar mitzvah if I wanted to. I can play a country western bar. There is no crowd that I can’t make move.” Without question, he can truly do it all.

Its been a while… I love each of you who take the time to indulge me. I promise that as long as you are read, I will inspire.

I’ve been a busy little beaver. I have been horribly unavailable to personal telephone calls, texts and emails. And when I finally get some ME time, all I really want to do is go for along walk up Lenox Rd, Sidney Marcus or up Cheshire Bridge with my HUGE sunglasses on and normal clothes, nothing fab at all, and shop for things I love like exotic foods, lingerie, parfume scents, flowers…whatever. I love to spend all day in my pajamas catching up on reality tv or simply sitting alone and just being quiet or reading something stimulating tha promotes growth. I’m a Libra, I NEED balance.

I tell folk all the time…be careful what you pray for…you just might get it. Recently in Miami, Big Chuck, CEO of PoeBoy Music ( Rick Ross, Flo-Rida) and PPR 101 panelist, made a point that made even me go hmmm and reflect. ”How much do you really think that you want this? Are you really ready for success? I remember sitting down with Flo-Rida about four years ago when everything we are doing now was in the planning stages. I asked him if he realized that if the record Low really blew up that he could possiby be on the road touring and in clubs every single night supporting the record and building the brand? Eager Flo-Rida thought he was ready. He thought he was going to love being on the road and being away from family, missing holidays and personal celebrations. It’s three years later and Flo-rida is still on the road and has visited countless countries and some he can’t even pronounce. Some folk think they would do anything to be in Flo-Rida’s shoes, but the truth be told, Flo-rida would love to come home and be a normal for only a full month.”

Be careful what you pray for, you just might get it. From Iistening to Chuck speak, I began to access my own life and career. When did my son grow up from that cute curly head boy sleeping on the chairs at my events and late night meetings to a 6 foot tall man with a deep voice and facial hair? I thought about how much DIVAdend has grown in just the past seven months. I remember being determined to make 2009 a very profitable year and so far, it has been. My income has tripled. This year I’ve spent more time on and off airlplanes and in hotels than I did entering and exit the gates of my home. I began to think about the massive amount of time that I have invested gaining and maintaining relationships with A-list media. The time I spend creating progressive alliances and branding myself as an international public relations guru outweighs the time I spend on the phone with girlfriends or boyfriends for that matter, (Sorry boo), clubbing and hanging out to just “be seen.” I realized that I travel the country and interact with folk who I’ve never seen or heard before and in 24 hours, I elevate their careers from local to national and sometimes international status. The professional I stand today is a far cry from being the Uptown New Orleans go-to girl when you are in crisis and the victim living in a downtown Atlanta FEMA hotel room. GOD not only HEARS, he ANSWERS prayers.

So if I am unable to holla at you as frequent as I once did, blame my brain not my heart! There is so much I want to do and so little time..I don’t want to waste any of it acting studpidly. GO OBAMA.

According to Sloke, his favorite Essence Fest memory was taking encouragement from his mentor Bill Cosby, another clean comic.

Finally, MAC The Camflouge Assassin is getting his just due with a hot collabo dubbed Conversations, featuring his former No Limit labelmate King Samm. Conversations is blazing radio waves all over the South and can be heard of Vol1 of the PPR 101 Compilation CD.

Known as the “Nas of New Orleans”, a fundraiser will be held at Tipitina’s New Orleans August 1, 2009 to raise funds to benefit the MAC Legal Defense Fund. Some of Louisiana’ s most talented artists will hit the stage to pay tribute to one New Orleans’ top hip hop voices. Mac was a client on my roster, that I never had the pleasure of meeting in person. He has been wrongfully incarcerated for the past 8 years for a murder he did not commit. Some of New Orleans most noted players gathered on the steps of Mac’s mother’s home for a press conference organized by DIVAdend Entertainment & Public Relations in 2004. Like everyone across the world, I have been overwhelmed with sadness by all that has happened with the one and only entertainment icon to the African American race…Michael Jackson.  And, as much as I know that each of us has our day, somehow I truly believe that this life was cut short because of how we speak about each other, act and treat folk.  As I watch this all unfold daily, I realize how much Mr. Jackson was suffering inside. All of the allegations, the ridicule and unwarranted harm about what we didn’t understand about a person ..we simply didn’t have to act like that or treat him in such a horrible way!

Everytime, we kept the stereotype ”child molestor” in the same sentence with him, we forced him to withdraw from society more and more, even after the court of law said NOT GUILTY! His music went from calm to down right angry and his lyrics articulated his exasperation for the harassment. Repeatedly, he asked us to stop pressuring him.  Everytime, we over analyzed the obvious facial/skin changes, the over the top purchases, his love for animals,his desire to just be a kid for the rest of his life we did this to him. Yes, we knew he was abused and had the world on his shoulder at a very tender age.  And, rather than show love, or try to understand him or simply let him be him, we carried the messages that the media fed us around the water coolers, at the dining room tables and over drinks.  Selfishly, we loved and even marveled at what his childhood abuse converted to on stage, on record, in his dance and the videos and meanwhile a man was suffering. We didn’t have to act like that!

I am a critical thinker which is why I think I am a good publicist who could have been an even better attorney.  I challenge myself to see things beneath the surface.  I enjoy playing devil’s advocate, the ability to help others to see a different point of view or logic as well as persuade and alter opinion and behavior. Not only do publicists possess this often dangerous trait, the media does too; both journalists and bloggers!  And, that is what we have allowed to happen to MJ. We allowed the media to alter our opinion of a mere mortal who is subject to mistakes and has the liberty to live his life as he so chooses.  And, although we have been bamboozled, we still didn’t have to act like that?

What is your secret vice? What do you do when you are feeling vulnerable? Some of us drink, do drugs, go out, engage in illiicit sex acts, engage in violent crime, cheat on your spouse, or cross-dress, maybe?  Don’t admit it to me, admit it to yourself. How would you feel if the media scrutinized you daily about it, put cameras in your faces, embarrassed you in front of your kids, 83 year old grandmother? Michael Jackson dealt with that and even more and for some twenty or so plus years with out so much as a belting out a cuss word, getting aggressively angry, nor did he ever mumble an ill word about his accusers except that they were all lying and telling “horrible stories”…in a court of law, I believe that is called allegations.

STAY WITH ME NOW…

I remember when I first met my now client Actor/Comedian J Anthony Brown during the Magic Fashion Convention somewhere around Feb 07. It was just before the NBA Allstar events were to take place In Vegas.  He was seeking a publicist and we chatted over dinner one evening about his role on Joyner, his movies and views about life and what was in the news. At the time, the big controversy was the former NBA star who made comments about gay NBA players.  The media beat his ass about his dislike for the lifestyle that ultimately got his jersy retired his jersey and banned from participating in all future All Star NBA sanctioned events.

As J and I began to discuss the situation it became obvious to me that J had taken on the media’s opinion of the situation.  Mr. Brown expressed to me that the player’s comments were dumb and that he was dead wrong for saying such.  I listened to Mr. Brown rant on and then I jumped in to alter his opinion.  Mr. Brown does have a few gay friends who he loves and supports unconditionally so I knew that he was not anti gay!  We all have friends and family who we love that have chosen the lifestye.  However, we each possess our personal and moral positions on the subject as well that may align with the player’s remarks, whether we admit it publically or not. I believe its our first amendment right of free speech.  And, as black folk, we sure don’t have any room to be discriminatory against anyone, for any reason. We know, first hand how that hurts!  I am the first to admit my disapproval of the homosexual acts in public and on mainstream TV. It can be a bit much for me just as the hip hop lyrics and what Lil Wayne did on stage at BET Awards with those young ladies was a bit too much…but we learn to be inclusive and tolerant.

Here’s my issue with the whole thing. George Bush SAID there were weapons of mass destruction…who is going to RETIRE his jersey for that hoax, the gas prices and the worst 8 years in a long dam time? Who is going to RETIRE Bush for that response to America’s worst natural disaster, Hurricane Katrina?  Who is going to BULLDOZE Mt. Rushmore because those founding fathers built this country on my ancestors back? Who is going to RETIRE for the discrimination we fought against during the Civil Rights Movement? The crack cocaine epidemic that broke poor black familes apart in the 80′s? The AIDS epidemic? The poor education system? Global Warming? Lack of healthcare and the unequal distribution of wealth?  I’m just asking!

At the end of the day, we all make mistakes or say the wrong thing at times. You know like calling Hurricane Katrina victims REFUGEES or calling talented women NAPPY HEADED HOES or saying Miley Cyrus should make a sex tape. We all have said or done a thing or two that we regret but does that require THE POWRRS THAT BE to erase all the GREAT and WONDERFUL contributions made to and for society for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, for speaking too passionately or honestly about your views or for making your home an amusement park?  Hell no!  We all make mistakes and fall short of God’s glory. And, all GOD requires of us is that we pray for forgiveness, repent and move forward positively. No matter how many times we fall, GOD is there to help us get back up again….a Saint is just a Sinner who fell down…and GOT UP!



We don’t run out of chances with God, but man is done with you in 5 minutes or less…no matter how GREAT you have been to him or what trails you have blazed for him.  God erases our faults and mistakes. He doesn’t blog about them, nor does he position Nancy Grace or Bill O’Riley on the red carpet to heaven commentating on who should get in or not. If GOD is the only judge, then I know for sure, we certainly didn’t have to act like that?

What we need to do to preserve the MJ legacy and his message is reach out and touch someone’s life in a positive manner.  I sympathize with Mother Jackson because as a mom, I watched my son suffer in a similar manner as well.  To be a child thrust into a new place with a stereotype bestowed on him by the news media was alot for a fourteen year old.  My child went from a happy go lucky incoming freshman to a withdrawn, rebellious and angry young man with no desire to graduate from high school.  To add insult to injury, one evening while attending a school football game, he was jumped by 17 boys out of 4th ward while parents, students, teachers and the police did nothing to protect him. In fact after it was over, they watched him get up, dust himself off and proceed to walk to the Marta train to get home…they weren’t even decent enough to give him a ride home or to call me to get him. They told me that my son didn’t WANT help..with 17 men on his back…you figure he didn’t NEED help? To date, my son hasn’t even been apologized to. Year after year, I watched ATL chip away a piece of my child’s spirit.  It pained me to witness my son change and for the worse.  I tear up thinking about it. Since we have been in ATL, my son has been taught how cold people can be, and ultimately came to the concluion that his life didn’t matter.

The last four years, trying to raise a man has been the toughest challenge of my life.  I spent the last two years begging for help from friends, from family, from the community, organizations, and even from the administrators of my church and not one person has yet to take a minute out for my child!  I’ve mentored many. In fact, my best friend died about 10 years ago, and I assumed godmotherly duties to each of her four children. In fact, I’m bringing her 11 year old daughter a cell phone to New Orleans this weekend and paying the bill each month.  But what I have been told as it relates to helping my son was …”I don’t know what to say to him” or “He is going to be alright, don’t worry!” Alot was was stolen from my son since we have been here in ATL? His positive views about life, love, relationships, friendship, family and the church are forever altered.  He attends church with me, but he sees it very diffrently now.

Folk have no problem ringing my phone or emailing me daily to ask for favors, support, prayers,money, free pr services, pr advice, support for their “for the camera” non-profit endeavors, gifts for their new babies, to attend their events etc. Maya Angelou said that you cannot live your life with a catcher’s mit on both hands!    My entire “corporate” career prior to running DIVAdend Entertainment full time was professional fundraising for social service agencies including my church. In fact, I authored programs during my tenure to help young at risk girls.  My son has always witnessed my helping, sharing, advocating on behalf of, fundraising for or just plain giving of myself, money, food and time for someone in need. He slept on chairs in my office sometimes while I worked long hours to help the under dog!  I have never been able to need someone as I have been needed.  It used to hurt me so bad that I had a nervous break down of sorts. The pressure was finally too much! I was at my breaking point, but rather than cause myself more pain by reaching out to deaf ears, I put my face to the floor ( if you know GOD you know what I’m talking about) and asked GOD to get US through this.  I surrendered all.  Going forward in life, I refuse to put my trust in man and I give everything in my life, good, bad or ugly to HIM.  Ever since that day I have been expecting/believing that my child is covered and no weapon formed against him may prosper. I choose to see all the GREAT things in my son, not ignoring his mistakes but helping him to learn from them.

Ms. Jackson was by her son’s side when the world called him Wacko Jacko…when the world took him to court on molestation charges that he was cleared of. In the midst of all that, Ms. Jackson still saw her GREAT son, not the circus act that the media was making him out to be. As Janet so eloquently said…to you all he is an icon, to us he is family! My son, to everyone else, is a troubled but aspiring  fashion designer, graphics designer, rapper and engineer, but to me…he is my only family, my only son! Regardless of what the popular opinion is,  I celebrate his talents and motivate him to execute pride in all that he does and who he is.  I challenge him to maintain a word and to have integrity…you can’t buy that in a college or get that from a high school diploma. GOD helped me to stop beating up on myself and my child for what others were saying about him and what he was or was not doing that they THOUGHT he should be doing. Proudly, I can say that I love my son unconditionally and that all this has helped me to love and forgive others as well. The testimony is …my son and I are both better because we realize that we didn’t have to act like that.  You dont either!

All of us are subject to being shunned like MJ. It’s so easy for bloggers to sit home and critique the lives of others that they don’t have the courage to live out.  What I have come to realize is that folk who have the audacity to live freely, ignoring labels and stereotypes, those who rise above the insults and staus quo or are dubbed as “crazy” are usually God’s most precious gifts because fearlessy they step out on faith and belive God’s plan for their life. Like Jesus, those who are sent here to do HIS work are often those who leave us too soon and often untimely. Just give it some real thought…. Malcolm, Martin, Michael and more should still be with us, helping to influence and alter positive behavior.   The next time you find yourself passing judgement, stereotyping someone, poking fun at misfortunes or mistakes…check yourself, because you don’t have to act like that!

He was new to the US from Liberia and he slept on my couch for months until I taught him how to get his grind on and the rest as they say is history…..I’m so proud to tell you that my industry child is not only the best kept singer/songwriting secret, who has a new keen knowledge of how to propel in this industry, now he is directing his own videos and in HD.

Top of the week to you!

I want to begin the day and the week by saying thank you, thank you for being a loyal reader of my blog and client updates. Your attention and support is appreciated! I hope the time that we share is positive and that you are both inspired and humored by my transparency. We get tons of unsolicited emails and advertexts to our cell phones. And if that weren’t enough, now everybody seems to be soliciting socially. In the mix of all of that, you still find time to read mine.

I can be a bit of an old soul. Many people know that I was soooo not with being a creator of a site on the ”Ning Network” although I am an active member on a few. What i see to be the bother with establishing membership with all these networks is that I get absolutely nothing out of it. Sure, I can enter the rat race of adding thousands of friends, commenting and messaging while the site owners sell the numbers that we build for them to advertisers. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating at all! But what benefit is that to me? And, really, who needs another responsibility, password to remember and anothr reason to look at your crackberry anyway?

Being that I am a professional communicator, duty requires that I participate in the process. So, kicking and screaming..I find myself sending out requests to join my new social networking site.

I now realize why God allows crazy people to come into our lives. Recently, I have prayerfully made some staffing additions. Prayerfully, being the key word. Louis, as I call him ( in my Diana Ross voice as Billie Holiday in Lady Sings The Blues), is an impeccable leader who does an awesome job as the newly appointed project manager of PPR 101.

I’m compelled to share when I see the things I pray for blossom into a flower before my eyes and for the spirit of discernment to recognize God in it all. Thank you Louis for a job well done!

The Music Specialist

Platinum rappers and record labels come and go but only a small handful of them can match the longevity and incomparable success of one unsung hero in the entertainment industry. That one man is the undisputed Music Specialist also known as Allen Johnston. For almost four decades, Johnston has made major moves in music, movies and entertainment law. And quietly, he laid the foundation that most independent southern rap labels follow today.

“My business now is to make other businesses grow and function,” he advises.

Born on the south side of Chicago , Allen’s upbringing was a breeding ground for self expression. Raised by his great aunt and uncle in the 40s and 50s, he and his younger sister were brought up in a 38-room boarding house. His aunt was an opera singer herself. And his extended family included actors, writers and singers.

“I was the only kid in the building for seven years, until my sister was born,” he remembers. “So everybody took care of me.”

By his seventh birthday, Allen was playing classical piano with perfection and heavenly hymns for the Bethel AME Church where his family attended and worshipped under the direction of the renowned A. Waymon Ward. After high school graduation, the cold breezes of the Windy City blew him down South to attend Clark College Atlanta, where he graduated Cum Laude in 1972.

From there, he relocated again to Miami and landed a gig with Capitol/EMI Records. Only 22 years old, he became the youngest-ever regional record promoter. Johnston was responsible for promoting music in six southeastern states and for two distributors in Miami and Atlanta .

“Back in those days, there was no marketing division or promotional department outside the main office,” remembers Johnston . “So I had to work radio and retail. They had a white promotional man but he wouldn’t go into those areas where I went.”

During Johnston ’s years with the company, EMI America raked in countless platinum with the highest percentage of sales. Week after week, the two distributors came in number one and two in sales.

“I went into stores with a squeegee and a bucket so the store owner would let me put my posters in the window. People would come in and buy my records because they saw my posters,” says Johnston . “I washed a lot of damn windows.”

Before long, celebrated music industry executive Clive Davis heard of his accomplishments and offered him a regional promotion job for Arista Records. There, Johnston acquired six gold albums for the likes of Ray Parker Jr., Dionne Warwick, Gil Scott Herron and Tom Brown.

“I started out in promotions because that’s all that a black man could be at that time,” says Johnston . “Promotions men that didn’t change with the game didn’t stay in the business.”

Johnston then invested in his own label Joey Boy Records. With Johnston behind the scenes grooming artists and marketing, the label boasted such pioneering southern rap talents such as Disco Rick, The Dogs, DJ Fury and The Puppies and sold more than four million records independently.

Pushing the envelope even further, he created and orchestrated Dade County ’s first and largest Black Music Month Festival in Liberty City section in the 1983. Continuing to give back to the music community, he created informational website www.asha.com the following year. Dedicated to educating aspiring entertainers and promoters, the website has been rated in the top five percent of all online sites in 1995.

Around the same time, he joined the ranks of Mindseed Corportation, a high-definition movie and audio studio complex based in Oakland , where Johnston develops international and national movie, audio and publishing deals for major and independent artists and filmmakers.

His efforts led to countless accolades and certificates of appreciation as diverse as Jack the Rapper’s Superior Achievement in Black Music Award and the Reader’s Digest Look Smart Editor’s Choice Award. But Allen didn’t stop there. In 1996, he became the director of urban sales for the K-TEL Corporation, where he instituted the first major catalog of direct-to-VHS/DVD movies.

And if that weren’t enough, Johnston also developed a course of study for non-profit organization Opportunities Industrialization Centers of America . Funded by federal government, the program enlisted at-risk youth in the Miami area, paid them a salary to attend class and taught them the essentials of the entertainment industry. To date, the program has the highest percentage of Black male graduation rate of any program in Dade and Broward counties.

In addition, Johnston is an honored speaker for the Florida , Georgia and Tennessee Bar Associations’ Continuing Legal Education courses. Johnston has written several position papers and contracts. His latest book, Publishing Quick and Easy, is a mainstay for both new and experienced attorneys.

Most recently, Johnston concentrates on international affairs. He has been assisting artists and labels in royalty collections, administration and executive level consulting and is currently working with Hip-Hop icon Kool Moe Dee, Grammy Award-winning blues singer Lucky Peterson and Japanese hit singer Minnie P. He is also working to acquire publishing catalogue for the estate of celebrated late reggae star Dennis Brown.

The Music Specialist, an apt name for this multi-talented man born in Chicago Illinois. Allen was raised with an extended family which consisted of actors, writers and operatic singers. At the age of 7, Allen was playing classical piano and hymns for the church that his family attended. Be careful what you PRAY for, you just might be blessed with it! As it is written. As much as I’d like to tell you that all of the traveling, new clients and awesome projects that are being dropped in my lap and the lap of my client’s is ALOT on me, is too stressful, frustrating, etc, I can’t ..even if it was. I’m busy as a bee with a HUGE smile on my face and a pleasant attitude. Good or bad..I’m determined not to concern myself with what ISN’T, but be grateful for what is. In my Ipod is Hezekiah Walker’s “GRATEFUL.”

The more I live and work for myself, I realize that respect and class will take you soooo far. I also realize that MOST people lack both; therefore theIr destiny is stagnated. So as of late, often, I practice saying I’m sorry or I beg your pardon. I try to say good morning, simple pleasantries or ask about the welfare of others before requesting a favor or even their undivided attention. I am trying to be more considerate, charitable and consistent at both. And, when I can’t pull that good stuff out of me in a tough situation, I have opted to say nothing. It is my goal to rebuke negative thoughts that lead to regretful comments. Even when I am being pushed to my limit, I am so trying to view the circumstance as a test of my faith, patience, discipline and desire to become a better ME!

ME!?, LOL, I am still very MUCH a work in progress, but God is working on me daily. I’m praying for it, which compelled me to author this blog as it will forever be a reminder to me when I am being pushed beyond my limit. We never stop being tested, we just stop failing them.

….Take take the high road. Freshen the gloss, sling your hair, put the stunna shades on, let the top down and blow it off…You are fabulous, right? I sure am!!!

Las Vegas-based DJ Do-It-All tours abroad to fight teen HIV infection and drug abuse

Using music and dance as means to fighting teen HIV infection, drug abuse and alcohol addiction abroad, Las Vegas-based DJ Do-It-All is set to launch a concert tour in Russia this summer. Bringing all the thrills and chills of his electrifying shows in the States to Russia’s Irkutsk region, DO-It-All reaches out to young hip-hop fans between the ages of 13-25 in efforts to combat the area’s rampant drug use, alcoholism and an alarming HIV infection rate.

It is reported that 33 percent of Russian teens age 15-25 use drugs; heroin is the drug of choice among teenaged users. Nearly 60 percent of all teens using drugs in Irkutsk are HIV positive. And if this trend continues, according to the U.S. Intelligence Council, the number of HIV positive individuals will rise to 8 million by 2010.

“This region is suffering from inadequate healthcare, lack of knowledge and easy availability to cheap and dangerous drugs. People are dying at drastic measures in Irkutsk,” says Do-It-All. “If music and dance will help reverse this epidemic, then we can all have fun while helping others.”

The tour includes an all-star celebrity lineup of artists from the U.S. and artists from Russia as well. The show includes the high-energy experience of DJ Do-It-All behind the turntables. The worldwide entertainer is known for mashing together hip-hop, rock and house music to make one hybrid sound and mixing music videos live, executing gravity-defying break dancing feats with the fearless drummer Kendric Harmon (who also performs with touring dance troupe Stomp).

Concertgoers will be provided with listings of HIV testing centers and offered counseling for at-risk youth and those currently abusing narcotics and alcohol. Proceeds from the concert will go to local agencies to provide psychological counseling, leadership, life skills and rehabilitation to troubled youth.

“Along with having fun and educating people, this tour will cast American hip-hop culture in a positive light,” says Do-It-All. “Even though we are from different countries, American entertainers, especially hip-hop entertainers, can relate to the struggles that young people have all around the world.”

The tour will kick-off on June 25 in Irkutsk’s main square during the day and multiple artists scheduled to perform and later that evening in a local nightclub. The following day, fans are expected to reach 4,000 for the concert at the city’s riverfront. The tour will continue to the nearby cities and conclude on June 29.

I REMEMBER EVERYONE HAVING AN OPINION, BUT I WAS THE ONLY PERSON WHO KNEW THAT FAILURE WAS NOT AN OPTION. I share the month of May in celebration with my girl Jayda & her husband Johnnie (a marriage made at a DIVAdend Entertainment event) Cabbell who decided to launch their televison network HAH ( Hitt Afta Hitt) TV, the day before my early morning cross country flight to L.A. UGH!!!!

I KNEW, I absolutely KNEW three things! One, I KNEW that I could NOT miss this party (THANKS SLIM) and two, I KNEW that I could not miss my flight and three, that I absoultely KNEW I was going to cocktail in celebration AND COULD POSSIBLY BE VERY SORRY FOR IT WHILE ON THAT 5 HOUR FLIGHT!!!
